 Materials Declarations

For the past 5 years or so UK Violins has been working alongside the areas premier touring orchestras providing materials declarations in order to determine the species of materials used in the instruments construction.

Domestic and International governing bodies (DEFRA & CITES) have placed strict legislation on the movement of some endangered species commonly found in musical instrument making such as ivory, Brazilian rosewood and whalebone. Sadly you are no longer able to travel abroad with such materials without the correct permits.

We can identify such materials and provide guidance on the current legislation surrounding their use and how to obtain such permits. We can also provide negative material declarations should your instrument not contain any restricted materials to make boarder crossings less stressful.
